Reading a statement like a banker

Your balance can look different in the app, on a statement and at an ATM. The differences have simple causes.

Posted, pending and available

  • Posted balance: everything that has fully settled.
  • Pending: purchases and deposits still being processed.
  • Available balance: what you can spend now, after pending items and holds.

A hold on a deposited check, or a hotel authorization, can lower your available balance for days. Spend from the available figure and check pending items before you close the month.
